Indy Magic Lectures is proud to present an evening with Simon Lovell!

Where: Irvington United Methodist Church (30 N. Audubon Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46219)

When: 7pm on Thursday, September 24, 2009

Cost: Free for IML members. $25 at the door for nonmembers.

Lovell’s Lecture Lollapalooza

The procedure always seems to be the same- you go to a magic lecture only to see the magician advertising shamelessly for the products he offers to sell after the lecture. Sure, you may learn a sleight or two, but these are easily forgotten as you’re far too busy thinking about the small fortune you just spent on this freakin’ two hour lecture (with breaks, mind you).

Well, now you can relax — Lovell’s Lecture Lollapalooza is here!

As you may know, lovable lemming Simon Lovell has rarely lectured for the past 10 years. Well now, you’re in luck! Simon has decided to come back to share the tricks of his trade with YOU!

This is an intense magic lecture unlike any other you’ve ever seen. Yes, you WILL be blown away by the material Simon presents. Yes, you WILL learn delightfully easy yet incredibly mind-blowing routines that will fool even you. And yes, you WILL walk away with several different items that you can incorporate into your own repertoire. BUT – not only will you learn these things, you will learn the TRUE secrets of magic – the real methods behind the madness. Oh, and as a bonus, you’ll probably laugh a lot throughout the evening!

No matter what your skill level, Simon will have something for you! Whether you just started in magic or you are a seasoned professional, Simon’s lecture is guaranteed to improve your magic ability!

Simon gives away everything; presentation, structure, method, script – nothing is left out. He doesn’t simply teach you a routine and feed you to the lemmings – instead, he guides you through each effect and teaches you how to make them your own.

Here are just a few of the secrets you’ll learn at one of Simon’s lectures:

  • How to make card tricks really fun for your audience.
  • How to really sell the finale of an effect for a big reaction.
  • How to approach groups, how long to perform, how to leave them applauding.
  • How to create laughter in your performance.
  • How to create the perfect give-away so you'll be remembered!
  • The “real work” on various gambling techniques from a man who is one of the best.
  • Many of Simon’s Strange and Unusual Hobbies (His Off-Broadway show of the same name is now in its fifth year of performances and winner of the 2009 Merlin Award!)
  • The real work on Simon’s theory of the ‘Meow Before the Scream’ to really make your magic work!

And much, much more!

The benefits are obvious; the choice is yours. Put down that DVD, turn off the TV, and make your way to an experience that will change your outlook on magic for many years to come!

I doubt if anyone can equal him.” “He does things with cards that no one else in the world can do----no one. I don’t care if you go to China, France or Germany, he does things that no one else can do and he performs them beautifully.”
Dai Vernon September 16 1987

John Davidson --- That’s Incredible

“Among gamblers, men like Richard Turner are as much feared as they are respected.”
Jack Palance --- Ripley’s Believe It or Not

Journalists' Reviews

It’s not hard to see why Richard Turner is regarded world-wide as the greatest card mechanic living or dead. It’s not easy to see what Richard does with the cards. He can shuffle the deck numerous times using various methods only to have the deck turn out in perfect numerical order. He can deal winning hands to any player a patron selects in a mock poker game. And don’t try your luck against him in Three Card Monte, you’ll never be able to follow the ace.
--- San Antonio Express News

He can deal a full house, four aces, whatever you want and make it look as if it were all a coincidence. He’ll even let you cut the deck, shuffle the cards, deal the hand and he’ll get a full house.
--- The Orlando Sentinel

Richard Turner has a feel for cards. Ask him to cut twenty-eight and he casually picks off exactly twenty-eight. It’s all done by feel.
--- Dallas Times Herald

They are remarkable hands. Hands any surgeon would be proud to affix to his or her wrists. Hands that unerringly pluck the aces from the deck and have made him one of the world’s greatest card dealers.
--- Los Angeles Times

Jay Sankey

With an all new lecture!

Jay Sankey is a true magician's magician and is widely considered to be one of the most original thinkers and finest magic teachers alive today. He is also one of the most prolific magic creators on the planet. While many of his especially creative contemporaries have a few dozen original routines to their credit, at last count Jay has created over 500 original street magic illusions.

As a performer, Jay has headlined at comedy clubs and mystified audiences at private parties, trade shows, banquets and corporate functions. Jay has also worked as a consultant for many of the world's most well known magicians including Criss Angel, Keith Barry and David Copperfield. Even David Blaine has been seen using Jay's magic tricks!

What's in Jay Sankey's all new lecture?

Jay’s lectures are famous for the quality of info plus ENTERTAINMENT value.  Be prepared to laugh…a lot. During his outstanding lecture you will hear wild asides and off the wall stories combined with learning valuable information about many effects.  He won’t be covering just a small handful of effects. He will cover MANY. This lecture will feature both magic and mentalism. There will be a real variety of stuff, both close-up and stand-up.  But the emphasis will be on visual stuff that is relatively

EASY to do!  It is impossible to list all of the effects he will teach. If you have viewed any of Jay Sankey’s DVD’s, then you are aware of his voluminous works…like drinking from a fire hydrant. There will definitely be something for everyone.

This is your rare chance to see Jay Sankey LIVE!  Just consider the options…hmm. It has been nearly a decade since Jay has lectured through our area so who knows how long it will be before he returns? This will indeed be a lecture you won't forget!  This will not just be a lecture but a full on SHOW! Don’t miss out on this one!

Indy Magic Lectures is proud to present an evening with Martin Lewis

Where: Irvington United Methodist Church (30 N. Audubon Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46219)

When: 7pm on Thurs, May 14, 2009

Martin's magic is legendary and his lectures are famous for containing alot of great material using props that you can pick up from him or easily make yourself at home!  Come join us for a great evening.  His lecture will include:

Part one, stand up magic.

Crystal gazing

A spectator slowly names the card that the audience is thinking of by gazing into a crystal ball. Martin’s method is as amazing as the effect.

Simplified Technicolor Prediction
A New method for my comedy prediction routine, which includes a great idea by Mike Porstmann.

Precognition
My latest effect, a video prediction system, with it you can foretell a video event before it happens. Max Maven said about it, "The roots of the effect go back 400 years - but Martin Lewis has yanked it into the 21st century. It was worth the wait.

The Hathaway Houlette
Three cards rise up from an examined jumbo deck which is inside a clear houlette suspended on ribbons held by you and a spectator - under seemingly impossible conditions - yet totally under your control. Martin shows everything, and he should know, the trick having been in his act for over 30 years.

Sketchpad Card Rise
This time around Martin show a variation of his classic effect "Cardiographic", this time, how to do ir for birthday parties, a great routine from friend Brian Scott.

Undivided
My new and exciting handling for the classic "Torn and Restored Cigarette Paper" that relies on subtlety rather than dexterity. A handling that makes the effect clearly visible for two or two hundred! I will show you can perform this ultra clean restoration, which has consistently baffled magicians and laymen alike.

The Bamboo Mat
This is my signature stage effect, and has been since 1986. Some might call it a Japanese "Troublewit," I call it repeat bookings - it is the most talked about effect from my show.

Part two, close up magic.

Business Card-iographic
You show an image of a deck, drawn on your business card. Slowly, and in full view, a drawing of a selected card rises from it. You then give it away as a souvenir. Business Card-iographic is a stunning promotional giveaway, that your customer will keep for years.

Spelling Collins Aces
Is my version of the Stanley Collins "Omega Ace Experiment" any good? Ask Bill Malone or Michael Ammar, they are among the many who perform it.

The Point of Arrival
Two marked cards vanish from the deck and join the ten in a handkerchief. A detailed exercise in misdirection.

The Stampede Second
Deal cards out from under a postage stamp in this highly visual illusion. Paul Harris is considering this for David Blaine so look out...

The Sidewalk Shuffle
Martin's classic jumbo monte effect, still used by magicians everywhere, after 30 plus years.

Mcabee Rings
The most elegant close up linking ring routine, with gold bracelets, which is eventually left for examination.
